Dr. Richie Gupta has been in the field of Plastic and Aesthetic Reconstructive Surgery for over 24 years. He is experienced in all aspects of Plastic Surgery. He is one of the leading surgeons in the country in the field of sex change surgery and cleft lip palate surgery. His area of interest includes microvascular Surgery and complex reconstructions in cases of congenital disabilities, trauma and post-cancer resections. He is an invited faculty at various Plastic Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery conferences in the country. An alumni of Maulana Azad Medical College and associated LNJP and GB Pant Hospitals, Delhi, Dr. Richie completed his M.S. in Surgery in 1990. He completed his M.Ch. in Plastic Surgery from Armed Forces Medical College and associated Command Hospital in Pune in 1993. Dr. Richie has previously worked as a Visiting Clinical Professor at Subharti Institute of Medical Sciences, Meerut. He was also the Director of the Smile Train Project at Subharti and, later, Sunderlal Jain Hospital, where he carried out hundreds of free operations in children with cleft lip and cleft palate, a common congenital disability. He helped to establish a Burns ICU in Sunderlal Jain Hospital in the year 2000, the only one of its kind in the private sector in Delhi at that time. He has also worked as a Senior Consultant in Plastic Surgery at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, Punjabi Bagh, Max Hospitals at Pitampura and Shalimar Bagh and B.L.K. Superspeciality Hospital at Pusa Road. Presently, he is a Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Plastic, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery at Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh. The Department, together with the Department of Dermatology, is providing the latest in the field of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery. A large number of reconstructive surgeries such as craniofacial Surgery, post-cancer resection reconstructive Surgery, microvascular and free flap surgery, sex change surgery, hand and brachial plexus surgery, post burns reconstructive Surgery and Surgery for correction of congenital disabilities are routinely carried out in this Department. This Department is also the leading unit in the country in terms of the number of sex change operations being performed, currently around 50-60 per year.

   

Dr. Richie Gupta routinely participates in Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programs and conferences. Prominent amongst these is the INDOCLEFT CON (2009), wherein he presented a paper on Modified Furlow Palatoplasty and also on the Evolution of Furlow Palatoplasty in Our Hands Subharti Technique. His paper on the Subharti Technique was also selected for the Peet Prize Session at APSICON 2009.
