Dr. Manish Baijal, the Director, possesses an impressive educational background and extensive experience of 30 years in the field of surgery. He completed his MBBS degree from Kasturba Gandhi Medical College, Manipal in 1992, followed by an MS in General Surgery from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi in 1996. Dr. Baijal further specialized in Bariatric Surgery at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA, and obtained a Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (FALS) in 2012. He was also honored with a Fellowship from the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (FIAGES) in 2010 and achieved the MNAMS qualification from the National Board of Examination, New Delhi in 2000. Dr. Baijal's professional journey includes significant positions and achievements. He served as a Registrar and Attending Consultant Surgeon at the Department of Minimal Access Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, from 1996 to 2000. Later, he held the position of Senior Consultant Surgeon at the Institute of Minimal Access, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Max Hospital Gurgaon, from 2009 to 2016. Currently, he is the Associate Director at the same institute and also works as the Sr. Consultant to the Director of the Max Institute of Minimal Access, Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery, Max Hospital, Gurgaon since 2009. Dr. Baijal's contributions and expertise have garnered recognition and accolades. He was awarded 'Excellence in Bariatric Surgery' by India News Health Awards in November 2016 and received the prestigious title of 'Surgeon of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery' by the Surgical Review Corporation, USA. Dr. Baijal is also the founder of the 'Center of Excellence' for Bariatric and Hernia Surgery at Max Healthcare, Gurgaon. Additionally, he has authored and co-authored numerous publications and books related to the field of surgery, including textbooks on endohernia repair, a handbook of bariatric surgery, and silver books on laparoscopic cholecystectomy and video-assisted anal fistula treatment. Dr. Manish Baijal is an active member of various medical societies and associations, such as the Hernia Society of India (National Chapter of APHS), Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society of India (OSSI), International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity & Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), and Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (IAGES). He also holds positions as the Hony. Treasurer of the Asia Pacific Metabolic & Bariatric Surgical Society (APMBSS) and the Hernia Society of India (HSI), a founding member of the National Chapter of Asia Pacific Hernia Society (APHS). Dr. Baijal's contributions extend to his role as a faculty member, contributing to the advancement of surgical education and guidelines.
