Padma Bhushan recipient, Dr. T S Kler is currently working as Chairman, Fortis Heart and Vascular Institute at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram & Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, and New Delhi. Internationally renowned surgeon Dr. T S Kler founded the first Electrophysiology section in India at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute. He was formerly chairman of the PSRI Heart Institute. Each year, he performs about 300 angioplasties, including stenting, atherectomy, and rotablation. With over 35 years of experience, Dr Kler has performed over 2000 cardiac diagnostic angiographies. Dr. Kler, an electrophysiologist at Escorts Hospital in Delhi, has achieved a lot of firsts for this nation. He founded India’s first cutting-edge Electrophysiology department and was the country’s first physician to implant an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) in April 1995.

  • Award of honour for outstanding contribution in the field of clinical cardiology presented by Indian Medical Association, Jalandhar, on 11th January 2009.
  • “PADMA BHUSHAN”, third highest civilian honour, awarded by the President of India for contribution in the field of medicine in 2005. ‘IMA AMS Distinguished Service Award’ for contribution to society in general and the medical profession in particular, given by the IMA Academy of Medical Specialties on 30th June, 2007.
  • Presented on the occasion of Inaugural Function of World Congress on Clinical and Preventive Cardiology (WCCPC 2006) at Mount Abu, Rajasthan, India.
  • ‘Lifetime Achievement Award 2006′ for outstanding contribution in the field of Clinical & Preventive Cardiology in the World.
  • ‘The Great Son of India Award’ given by Function for International Recognized Talented Indians (FIRTI) by Sahibzada Ajit Singh Academy, Roopnagar, Punjab in February, 2003. The Citation Awarded’ on behalf of Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre, New Delhi by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam (President of India) in December, 2002.
  • ‘Outstanding Alumnus Award 1998′, for excellent contribution in the field of medicine by A. S. College, Khanna in November, 1998.
  • ‘Distinguished Service Award 2006′ for outstanding contribution in the field of Clinical & Preventive Cardiology in the World. Presented on the occasion of Inaugural Function of World Congress on Clinical and Preventive Cardiology (WCCPC 2006) at Mount Abu, Rajasthan, India.
  • ‘Honour of Merit Award’ by S. S. Jain Sabha, New Delhi in December, 2001.
