Dr. Akshay Tiwari – Director Of Head

Dr. Akshay Tiwari, the Director and Head of Musculoskeletal Oncology, has a remarkable educational background. He completed a Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Oncology from the esteemed Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute in Italy. In addition, he holds a Diploma in Tissue Banking from Singapore and underwent training at the Bone and Soft Tissue Unit of Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. Dr. Tiwari obtained an MS in Orthopedics from Lady Hardinge Medical College in Delhi, and his MBBS from RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. With 20+ years of expertise, Dr. Akshay Tiwari began his career as a Senior Resident in Orthopedics at Lady Hardinge Medical College and Associated Hospitals. He later joined the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute in Delhi as a Consultant Orthopedic Oncologist, where he currently serves as the Head of the Orthopedic Oncology Unit. Dr. Tiwari has received numerous awards and recognition throughout his career. He earned honors with distinction in the third professional MBBS exams and was awarded the Governor's Medal for achieving the highest marks in the second professional MBBS exams. He also received a Gold Medal for his outstanding performance in Anatomy during the first professional MBBS exams. In the field of medical knowledge, Dr. Tiwari was the first runner-up in the semi-finals of the All India Medi Mind Quiz. At Tata Memorial Hospital, he received a Fellowship in Orthopedic Oncology from the Delhi Orthopedic Association. Notably, Dr. Tiwari has been acknowledged with the Best Published Paper award at RGCON 2011 and the Best Paper Award at ICC 2013. Dr. Akshay Tiwari's interests lie in various aspects of oncology, including Cancer Care/Oncology, Musculoskeletal Surgical Oncology, Musculoskeletal Oncology, Pediatric (PED) Oncology, and Surgical Oncology. He is an active member of professional organizations such as the Indian Orthopedic Association, Delhi Orthopedic Association, and IMSOS (Musculoskeletal Oncology Society).
