Dr. Deepak Govil is a specialist in Surgical Gastroenterology with a rich experience of over 39 years and is currently working at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital. About 3000 procedures involving the liver and the gastrointestinal tract, and laparoscopic surgery, have been carried out by him. His specialties include Pancreato-biliary Surgery, Surgery for Ulcerative colitis Colorectal surgery, hepaticojejunostomy for biliary strictures, benign and malignant obstructive jaundice, splenectomy, lienso-renal shunts, ileo-anal anastomosis with a pouch for ulcerative colitis, oesophageal resection with gastric pull-up, Whipple’s pancreato-duodenectomy, and many others. He is renowned for paying attention to detail, making precise diagnoses, and treating patients with sensitivity. He has handled many challenging medical cases. He served on the national executive of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology and served as the club’s convenor from 1998 to 2007 as well. In 1997, he founded the department of general surgery at the Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute (PSRI) for Liver, Renal, and Digestive illnesses in New Delhi. For the following seven years, he carried out all types of Major Gastro-Surgical operations. He has completed a number of research projects, authored chapters for numerous publications, published and presented papers, and chaired sessions at national and international conferences.
