Renowned for his pioneering work in Gastroenterology, Gastrointestinal Cancers, and Hepatic diseases, Dr. Randhir Sud, a recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri award, has played a pivotal role in establishing and integrating therapy with GI Endoscopy in India. As a gold medalist and "Master in Endoscopy" honored by the Indian Society of Gastroenterology, Dr. Sud has made significant contributions to the field through his training programs and live workshops. Dr. Randhir Sud, currently serving as the Chairman of the Department of Digestive & Hepatobiliary Sciences, has been instrumental in introducing various innovative treatment options in Gastroenterology, Gastrointestinal Cancers, and Hepatic diseases. He has conducted original research on new endoscopic devices and techniques, revolutionizing the field. Dr. Sud began his career as a Junior Resident at AIIMS, New Delhi, in January 1979, and later held the position of Senior Resident from 1982 to 1984. In 1985, he became a consultant in Gastroenterology at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi. With over six years of experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students at AIIMS, Dr. Sud is an approved teaching faculty and examiner for the Diplomate National Board Examination in Gastroenterology conducted by the National Board of Examinations. Recognized for his expertise, Dr. Randhir Sud has been invited as a visiting professor to esteemed institutions worldwide. He taught at the Harvard Medical School in Boston in 1999 and served as a visiting professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas, and the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama (USA) in 2005. Dr. Sud's academic journey began at the Government Medical College in Amritsar, where he obtained his M.B.B.S. degree in 1977. He continued his studies at AIIMS, New Delhi, earning an M.D. in Medicine in 1981 and a D.M. in Gastroenterology in 1983. Throughout his academic years, he achieved numerous gold medals and other accolades for his exceptional performance in medical examinations.
