In addition to being a well known hepato-pancreato-biliary surgeon with more than 40 years of experience in his field, Dr. Subhash Gupta is also ranked among the top 10 gastroenterologists in India. Having handled more than 3000 transplants, Dr. Subhash Gupta is currently the chairman of the Max Centre for Liver and Biliary Sciences, one of the world’s largest liver transplant centres. In 2013, Dr. Gupta and his team assisted other hospitals in India and overseas with setting up liver transplantation. The team provided support to hospitals in Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Additionally, Dr. Subhash was a pioneer in the creation of the living donor liver transplant (LDLT). Patients from India, Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East are now able to receive liver transplants because of his surgical techniques, which have reduced expenses to a fraction of those charged elsewhere. Dr Gupta led the team that developed the standard guidelines for the treatment of liver diseases and liver transplantation in India with assistance from the FICCI and the Ministry of Health. In addition to assisting in the determination of insurance-related claims, this study helped establish the standards for the proper treatment of acute liver failure and chronic liver disease.
