At Amrita Hospital in Faridabad, Dr. Sushil Azad is presently employed in the departments of adult congenital heart disease and paediatric cardiology. He has performed 4500 interventional cardiology operations on people of all ages throughout his 23 years of paediatric cardiology experience. A 1.5 kilogramme preterm newborn with a complicated congenital heart condition was the youngest infant he ever treated in a cath lab. He focuses on treating congenital cardiac problems in people of various ages (from neonatal to adult). He received his undergraduate degree from Pt. B.D. Sharma PGIMS in Rohtak and went on to complete his postgraduate studies at Pt. J.L. Nehru Medical College in Raipur. He played a key role in the creation of the DNB Pediatric Cardiology programme at Medanta Gurgaon and the development of the Pediatric Cardiology Program at Medanta. Additionally, he founded the Percutaneous Pulmonary Valve Implantation programme at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute as a centre of excellence and the exclusive facility doing the procedure. He has more than 25 research publications, chapters in textbooks on paediatric cardiology and echocardiography, and several paper presentations at conferences held in the United States and abroad.
