With more than 3 decades of experience, Dr. Yash Gulati, an esteemed orthopedic surgeon, is internationally recognized for his exceptional contributions in Spine Surgery and Joint Replacement. He holds the distinction of being the youngest orthopedic surgeon to receive the Padma Shree, the second highest civilian award conferred by the President of India, in recognition of his outstanding service to the country. Dr. Gulati completed his medical education at prestigious institutions, including Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and a Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) degree from the University of Liverpool in England. Following several years of practice in England and the Republic of Ireland, as well as fellowships in various countries around the world, Dr. Gulati returned to India to join Apollo Hospital right from its inception. Throughout his career, Dr. Gulati has performed surgeries on notable individuals, including former Prime Ministers of India, international cricketers, diplomats, and a large number of patients from different countries. In the field of Spine Surgery, Dr. Gulati has specialized in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, Microdiscectomy for Slip Disc, and the correction of Spine Deformities such as Scoliosis and Spondylolisthesis. He holds the distinction of being the first Indian surgeon to perform Endoscopic Disc surgery for Slip Disc in India. Whenever applicable, he utilizes minimally invasive techniques for Slip Disc, Spinal Canal Stenosis, and Spine Fusion. Dr. Gulati is also one of the few surgeons performing Minimally Invasive Trans Foraminal Inter-Body Fusion (MITLIF). He even conducted a live demonstration of Microdiscectomy at the Annual Conference of the Indian Orthopaedic Association held in Patna, for which he was awarded the Best Paper Award for his work on Spinal Surgery. In the field of Joint Replacement, Dr. Gulati has over 20 years of experience in performing Primary and Revision Knee & Hip Replacement surgeries with excellent outcomes. He was invited to demonstrate live Knee Replacement and Hip Replacement surgeries at the Golden Jubilee Conference of the Indonesian Orthopaedic Association in Solo, Indonesia. Dr. Gulati has also authored numerous scientific papers published in Indian and foreign journals, and he possesses the largest series of Total Hip Replacement for Sickle Cell Disease in India. Dr. Gulati has been actively involved in teaching and has served as a faculty member for numerous Orthopaedic conferences in India and abroad. He is a recognized teacher Diplomat of the National Board (DNB) in Orthopaedics and has supervised the training of postgraduates. For 17 years, Dr. Yash Gulati has served as a Senior Consultant at the Division of Spine Surgery & Division of Joint Replacement, Orthopaedics, Apollo Hospital in New Delhi. Additionally, he has taken on the roles of Advisor Orthopaedics for the Apollo Group of Hospitals throughout India and Co-ordinator Orthopaedics for Apollo-Spectra Hospitals in Delhi, Kanpur, and Jaipur. He also serves as a Visiting Senior Specialist at RAK Hospital in the UAE, where he conducts regular outpatient and surgical sessions. Previously, he held the position of Head of the Orthopedics Unit at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at St. James Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, and Director & HOD Orthopaedics at BLK Super Specialty Hospital in New Delhi. He was also an Adjunct Professor at Indira Gandhi Open University. Dr. Gulati is a life member of numerous Orthopaedic, Joint Replacement, and Spine Surgeon Associations. He served as the President of the Delhi Orthopaedic Association and has organized numerous Orthopaedic, Joint Replacement, and Spine Surgery Conferences to disseminate scientific information. He was honored by the Indian Armed Forces, appointed as an Honorary Consultant in recognition of his voluntary service to the Armed Forces and his contributions to orthopaedic surgeries for civilians in remote areas under the "Sadbhavana" program run by the Armed Forces. Dr. Gulati has been a pioneer in facilitating medical treatment for patients from various countries through medical tourism. Many patients from around the world seek him out for Joint Replacement and Spine Surgery. He has also provided medical coverage for Cricket Test Matches, One Day International Matches, and the World Cup Hockey Tournament over the past 14 years. Additionally, he served on the Advisory Medical Committee for the Commonwealth Games. In his role as Chairman of the Orthopaedic Implants Committee of the Indian Bureau of Standards, Dr. Yash Gulati contributes to the standardization of orthopedic implants in India. In 1999, he hosted a medical health show program called "High Tech Surgery – Dr. Yash Gulati, Health Show" on Doordarshan. His expertise and surgical techniques have been featured in various media outlets, including a documentary on ITV in London and a special feature on Z Business TV titled "Big Idea" in January 2015, where he was recognized as an inspirational personality.
