Dr. Vijay Kumar Chopra is a highly experienced Senior Director in the field of cardiology. He completed his MBBS from Christian Medical College & Hospital, Vellore in 1972. He pursued further specialization, obtaining a DNB in General Medicine from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh in 1976, and a DM in Cardiology from the same institution in 1979. In 2008, he was recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC). With an impressive career spanning over 40 years, Dr. Vijay Kumar Chopra has held various notable positions. He served as a Jr. Resident (Medicine), Resident (General Medicine), and Sr. Resident in the departments of Medicine and Cardiology at PGI, Chandigarh. He worked as a Sr. Consultant in Cardiology at Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi from 1979 to 2005. Subsequently, he held the position of Principal Consultant (Cardiology) at Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre, New Delhi from 2005 to 2009. From 2009 to 2019, he served as the Director of the Heart Failure Program at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurgaon. Dr. Vijay Kumar Chopra has been honored with several awards throughout his career. In 1984, he received the prestigious International Scholar award from Cleveland Clinic. He was also awarded the Kutumbiah Prize in Clinical Medicine and the Certificate of Honor in Medicine, Surgery & Pathology at CMC, Vellore in 1972. In 2013, he was appointed as the Founder President of the Heart Failure Association of India. He is a Life Member of the Cardiological Society of India (CSI) at both the National and Delhi Branch levels and has been recognized as a Fellow of CSI, the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), and the ESC Heart Failure Association. Dr. Vijay Kumar Chopra's areas of interest include preventive cardiology, clinical cardiology, heart failure, advanced heart diseases, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, pulmonary function tests, cardiac catheterization, treadmill tests (TMT), ultrasound/ultrasonography, holter monitoring, mitral/heart valve replacement, and aortic aneurysm surgery/endovascular repair. With his extensive knowledge and expertise, he continues to contribute significantly to the field of cardiology.
