Dr. Vijay Kohli

Dr. Vijay Kohli, the Vice Chairman of Cardiac Surgery, is a highly experienced and skilled cardiac surgeon. With a remarkable educational background and 42 years of professional experience, Dr. Kohli has made significant contributions to the field of cardiac surgery. Dr. Vijay Kohli completed his FIACS (Fellow of the Indian Association of Cardio Thoracic Surgeons) in 2003, further enhancing his expertise. He pursued a fellowship at St. Luke's and Roosevelt Hospital Medical Centre in New York, USA, in 1995. In 1990, he received his MCh from Chandigarh, India's Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research. Prior to that, he obtained an MS degree from the Government Medical College and Associated Hospital in Jammu, J&K, India, in 1985, and an MBBS degree from the same institution in 1980. With a career spanning several prestigious institutions, Dr. Kohli has held significant positions in the field of cardiac surgery. He currently serves as the Senior Director of Cardiac Surgery at Medanta - The Medicity since 2009. Prior to that, he worked as a Senior Consultant in Cardiovascular Surgery at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi from 2007 to 2009. His previous roles include Director of Cardiac Surgery at Escort Heart Institute & Research Center from 2005 to 2007, Principal Consultant at the same institution from 2002 to 2005, and Senior Consultant from 1997 to 2002. Dr. Kohli's contributions to cardiac surgery have been recognized through various awards and honors. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Government of India in 2002 for his exceptional work in the field. In 2002, he was also honored for launching the cardiac surgery program at Norvic Hospital. His scholarly works have been awarded a gold medal by the Indian Cardiologist Society in 2001. Additionally, the Jammu Medical College recognized his distinguished services and awarded him for launching a heart surgery program in 2001. Dr. Kohli's areas of interest and expertise in cardiac surgery include cardiothoracic surgery, heart transplantation, coronary artery bypass, and reduction ventriculoplasty. He is a member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, American Association of Thoracic Surgeons, American Heart Association, Asian Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Cardiological Society of India, IACTS (Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons), Vascular Society of India, and EP Society of India.
