The Fontan procedure, also known as Fontan Kreutzer, is a surgical procedure named after Dr. Pierre Fontan, who developed the procedure in the 1970s. It is primarily used in treating single ventricles heart defects like hypoplastic left heart syndrome, tricuspid atresia, and pulmonary atresia, where the heart has only one functioning pumping chamber instead of two.
